Eleven Companies Join The Crunchbase Unicorn Board in April 2024, Six from the United States
The Crunchbase Unicorn Board welcomed 11 new companies, which is an increase from the previous year's six but still lower than the 40 added in 2022. The AI, Web3, and e-commerce sectors each contributed two new unicorns to the board. The United States had the highest number of new unicorns with six, followed by Germany, France, Brazil, Cayman Islands, and Australia with one each. Xaira Therapeutics raised the largest initial funding of $1 billion as it launched out of stealth, and both Xaira Therapeutics and Cognition were valued at a billion in their first year. The Crunchbase Unicorn Board is a curated list of private companies in Latin America with post-money valuations of $1 billion or more, updated as new companies reach the $1 billion valuation mark. The board does not reflect internal company valuations or adjust valuations based on investor writedowns, and funding to unicorn companies includes all private financings to companies that are tagged as unicorns, as well as those that have since graduated to The Exited Unicorn Board.
